When it comes to getting visitors to your site, you want to grow your audience and also keep them coming back. Content strategy and execution is a discipline in its own right. If you are looking to build a genuinely compelling brand experience shortcuts cannot be taken. At the heart of your local SEO campaign will be building the number of listings you have. In other words, the amount of places you can add your business, and get a citation. Often it is assumed that only business directories count, but actually there are number of ways to expand your portfolio. Building backlinks is not enough. You also have to monitor every link your website is earning. Not knowing who links to you or when links are being removed can cost you a lot of traffic.
Aligning Your Content
You may begin with top-level, aggregate numbers, but you must drill down into specific pages that can improve products, services, and business sales. Your title tag on the SERPs will induce your click-through-rates. Let’s see how. Whenever the user types in his query, the Search Engines will highlight those keywords in your title tag thereby improving user visibility and increasing your prospective of your click-through-rates. No follow links are defined as the links which will not pass any link juice. Here, the link is set as no follow, meaning that the Google bot will not crawl the link and will not pass any link juice. The link does not count as a ‘vote’ in the page’s favour. Also, it will not boost page rank. A nofollow link is created with the nofollow link HTML tag. Google doesn’t only consider on-page SEO score when ranking an article. It also takes into account many other factors like social media signals (shares, likes, tweets, follows, etc.), backlinks, domain authority, and many other off-page metrics.
Run search traffic reports on your main keywords
Long tail keywords are essentially longer more specific keywords that tie in directly to your content. For example, if you are selling woman’s shoes on your eCommerce website. The main keywords would likely be: “ladies shoes”, “woman’s shoes”, “girls shoes” and other similar words. SEO takes promotion. Backlinks are a huge part of ranking in Google and in order to attract backlinks (and even social shares) your content needs to be seen . Without shares, backlinks, authority, Google won’t notice your page and you won’t rank. It seems like content should be engineered for an outcome. If you just start with an article and then ask yourself how to get traction to this everywhere, that doesn’t always work. Build a great series of appropriate backlinks on your site. Have your keyword phrases be in the titles of said links. Make sure that these network links are related to your content, otherwise they could possibly work against you. Using backlinks is a great way to bring in traffic from various areas.
Establish yourself as the subject matter expert and authority about your business
There are many places across the web where you can build links through submissions, whether it’s submitting your site, a piece of content, or anything else. SEO and content marketing are, technically speaking, two very different beasts, and yet, they go together hand in hand. One relies on the other for success, and vice versa. Amazon search and YouTube & Video search need to be taken into account, as search share of voice is given more to platforms other than Google. We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "Redesigning your site gives you the perfect opportunity to
make sure your URLs are optimized for UX and for search
engines. Your URLs play a significant role in your SEO success.
Your URLs must contain targeted and relevant keywords. "
The direction that you take to improve the visibility of your site on the web should be decided upon by analysing the current state of your website, the audience you are targeting, your business objectives and any previous SEO work that has been carried out. As I mentioned, SEO is a long-term strategy. You won’t see results in the first week, and probably not even in the first month. As a general rule of thumb the more words in the query the easier it is to rank for that phrase. This is certainly not an absolute but has been the case for a majority of the terms I have worked with. *If you know of examples where this theory does not hold up, please share in the comments. It's important to quickly address reputation management because as part of the evaluation process Google will analyze what other people say about your website.
